Canada Post Set to Release Localized Promotions and Coupons

Marketing Magazine reported this week that Canada Post is partnering with CentrSource SA, an e-commerce company, to launch “a new online service that will deliver time-sensitive local advertising offers, promotions and coupons…”  This service is set to go live in select Western markets in Canada by November, and launch nationwide by next March.

The service is a pay-per-performance model that carries location based offers via IP recognition and postal code/neighbourhood input. Users can also browse the site anonymously.

Canada Post is also planning partnerships with other community publishers (such as newspaper websites) to boost adoption. The service will be supported by a significant consumer marketing campaign, and is set to evolve toward mobile and GPS.

Groupon announces Grouspawn, 60K Scholarship for Groupon Babies

Daily deal giant Groupon launched a new dating service this week called Grouspawn, with an added marketing incentive, as TechCrunch reported this week. Couples that can prove they used a Groupon deal and made a baby on their first date could win a $60,000 grant for their child’s college tuition.

Grouspawn will help singles who use Groupon deals find partners who also use Groupon deals. Groupon, noted as one of the fastest growing websites ever, swears they will have a team of people ensuring that Groupon babies were legitimately conceived on Groupon dates. The Grouspawn site also notes that any couple applying for the grant must provide ample evidence, such as pictures, testimonials and credit card statements.

How She Goin’ launches in the Canadian Maritimes

A Maritime specific daily deal site has launched this week in Canada. St. John entrepreneur, Chris Nadeau launched How She Goin’ in an aim to bring the group buying craze to the Maritimes. The service is so targeted to the region that even the name, “How She Goin’” refers to a popular folk phrase used widely along the East Coast.

OneSpout Releases iPhone App

As reported on our blog earlier today, OneSpout.Com has released an iPhone application that allows you to find all of your cities daily deals on one sleek mobile interface.  The OneSpout iPhone app went live in the iTunes App Store this morning.
